Darrell Williams
"Hoofer" says it all. Darrell has over 15 years experience as a professional dancer and actor. Darrell's talents range from choreographing tap to improvisational hoofing. Darrell began his early training at the Hedgerow and Freedom Theaters. Darrell attended the University of the Arts and was trained by the late great world legendary hoofer La Vaughn Robinson. He also was casted in "A Streetcar Named Desire" at the University of the Arts, "The Colored Museum" and "Streamers". His choreography was aired on "Boscov's Thanksgiving Day Parade" and "Showtime at the Apollo". Darrell is the recipient of numerous awards in Tap Choreography. In 2001 his choreography won "The 2001 America's Most Talented Kids", and was aired on the Sally Jesse Raphael Show. Darrell has performed live at the Philadelphia Arts Bank, American Music Theater, Merriam Theater, Wilma Theater and Trump Plaza. His students have won awards nationally at "Tap Kids" and "Break the Floor", and have received first place tap awards at New York City Dance Alliance, On Stage and Rising Star Nationals. Darrell is the founder, producer, director and choreographer of FOOTWERX, a tap intensive workshop for highly skilled tap professionals and non- professionals and students of all ages. FOOTWERX is a yearly production, to be performed at the Wilma Theater on the Avenue of the Arts in Philadelphia. Artistic Director of FOOTWERX and Tap Competition Instructor.
